last week Run Out Groove Records had an album listening party. we were among the first people to experience the album before its release. postie has gone full country. most songs remind me of another country star from generations past, he did his homework developing his sound. Here is a sneak peak of unreleased tracks of the album:
Wrong Ones- "I'm looking for the right one, but the wrong ones keep looking at me"
- the turmoils of dating as an adult, the album starts off strong with lots of fiddle and punchy drums.
Finer Things (ft. Hank Williams Jr.) - "Turn up the rambling man, everyone knows I'm a hank man" ..." got a 10-point blonde in the shotgun seat, I got a thing for the finer things.
- as a bleach bottle blonde, this might be my new anthem. it's all about puffing up your chest and being proud of your taste. if you are a fan of the famous Postie Warble like me, you be in heaven since he lays it on really thick on this track
Have The Heart ( ft. Dolly Parton) -"I'm out here playing chicken with enough is enough... i don't have the heart to break yours"
-an upbeat dolly tune with lots of bright, sparkly keys. it kiiiiind of reminds me of a sad version of Islands in the stream.
What Don't Belong to Me- "i wish i could give you the best because you deserve more than the hole in my chest.
-this song is the story of giving your heart away so many times, that you barely have any left to spare. this is the perfect song that bridges hip-hop Postie and country Austin. steel guitar goes so hard on this track.
Goes Without Saying (ft. Brad Paisley)- "I could list a hundred reasons she did the walking but her taillights did the talking"
A classic man's anthem about a woman who's had enough and a man who's left beside himself.
Nosedive ( ft. Lainey Wilson) - "there's learning in the hurting, sick of bearing all the burdens... there is beauty in the nose dive"
- give into taking risks. if Miley Cyrus' Disney acceptance speech was a song, it'd be this. It is courageous in itself to take a risk no matter the outcome. this song sounds like an old dolly parton tune. lainey has come into her own as a grown woman, it's so exciting to see our new country artists settling into adulthood and evolving.
Losers (ft. Jelly Roll)- "My therapist is a good bartender"
-an anthem for the breakfast club. it reminds me of Creep by Radiohead.
Devil I've Been (ft. ERNEST) - "I hung my horns on the wall as soon as she walked in"
-how does it feel to meet the woman who will finally change your life? like hanging up your horns. the harmonies between Postie and ERNEST are so heavenly, they remind me a lot of the eagles.
Never Love You Again (ft. Sierra Farrell) "I will love you until tomorrow then I will never love you again"
-the end has come, there's bittersweet love, and then there's Sierra Farrell here to make hurting sound so good. this reminds me of After the Fire is Gone by Tammy Wynette and George Jones.
Missing You Like This (ft. Luke Combs) - "Crossing my heart till I die, I would never done what I did if I knew I would be missing you like this."
A proper begging, pleading man repenting sins. everything your ex would call you up and say (if we hadn't blocked all their numbers LOL) again, steel guitar goes so hard.
California Sober (ft. Chris Stapleton) -"I became the punch line to some college joke"
-upbeat rock n' roll meets country summer anthem. I cannot express in words how much Chris Stapleton means to me so I'll leave it at This might be on replay until the summer is over. The harmonies remind me of the Monkees or CCR.
Hide My Gun (ft. Hardy) - "no shit i'd kill a man for you, and if i did would you hide my gun?"
-are you a ride or die? how far will you ride for your man? this song is for the Gemma Tellers of the world.
Right About You- "All my kindness came from dirt ...thank god I was right about you."
- a lovey-dovey song about finally finding love after a long crazy life alone. gives me super George strait energy . fingerpicking on this track is so so special & i don't know how many times I'm gonna say this but STEEL GUITAR GOES HARD
M-E-X-I-C-O (ft. billy strings)- "unless I go to hell. i can never leave "
-if any song has the potential for a line dance to go along with it, it's this track. super knee slappin'. makes you wanna link arms and spin your friends along the dance floor. if you're a line dancer, it gives me freight train vibes.
Yours- "You'll love her forever but I've loved her long before"
A song to his daughter, this song had us all at the listening party shedding real tears. get ready for wedding DJs because this WILL be the next father-daughter dance tune.
F1- Trillion is set to release on August 16, 2024.
